What happens to the file you send

Short, because there is not much to say, and specific, because vagueness in a page like this is the problem rather than the solution.

Your file is deleted once the report is sent. It is not kept, not reused, not shown to anyone, not published, and not used to train anything.

The whole sequence

You email a file. It arrives in a mailbox, like any email.
It is copied to a working folder and run through the diagnostic tool. The tool runs on a machine in Casablanca. The file is not uploaded to any third party service.
A report is written and sent back to you.
The file is then deleted, from the working folder and from the mailbox. In every case within seven days of arriving, whether a report went out or not.

What is kept

The email conversation itself stays in the mailbox, the way correspondence does, so that a question you ask three weeks later can be answered. A copy of the report is kept for the same reason. Your manuscript is not part of that.

If you would rather nothing at all remained, say so in your email and the whole thread is deleted once you have the report. That is not a special favour, it is a line in a reply.

What is never done

Your text is never quoted, shown, published or used as a portfolio example, in whole or in part, identified or anonymised. Not in a sample report, not on this site, not anywhere. The sample report linked from the home page is run on a demonstration file written for the purpose: that book does not exist.
Your file is never fed to a machine learning system.
Your address is never added to a mailing list. There is no mailing list.
You are never followed up unless you ask to be.

This website

These pages carry no cookies, no analytics, no tracking pixels and no third party scripts of any kind. Nothing is loaded from another domain. There is no contact form: the buttons open your own email program, which means nothing reaches anyone until you press send in a program you control.

Confidentiality of unpublished work

Most of the files that arrive here are unpublished. That is treated as the default rather than the exception. If you want a signed confidentiality agreement before sending anything, ask and you will get one, and a diagnostic is not worth less for having been asked.
